A killer sounding, low power amp. This would rock your living room without killing your ears or bugging your neighbors. It would also make a great recording amp.
While it shares its name with the Deluxe Reverb the Deluxe circuit is actually a little different and sounds a little more like an old tweed amp than the Deluxe Reverb. I think it seems to break up a little earlier as well. This is a good thing! You get killer output tube distortion at low volumes.
The amp is very clean cosmetically, and has obviously been well cared for. The tolex has one repaired rip on the back edge - the rest of the covering looks great. The original grill cloth is in excellent condition as well. The tube chart bears an OL rubber stamp which means the amp was made in December of 1965. The original transformers are stamped 808542, 605-5-39 and 606-5-39. The pots are all dated 1964 or 1965. None of the blue internal caps have been changed.
I just got the amp back from my tech. The filter caps and a couple tubes were replaced. A piece of sheilded wire that had been added between the board and the power switch was replaced with original cloth wire. When I got the amp it had a 1960 Utah speaker, which sounded pretty good. My technician replaced that with a C12P Jensen dated 1965. It now sounds like $1,000,000, but I'll keep the price at $1600..
