This is a money-making project for someone out there! If it doesn't sell I will consider it myself.
This strat is all original with the exception of the output jack - I can include one that would look original that I removed from a really badly changed up '65 Strat a couple years ago. Serial number L200**.
The pickups, switch, and pots have never been unsoldered from each other. One pot is stamped 304 6334, the others are partially readable but it is obvious they are all original.
The black bottom pickups are all date stamped and the masking tape still holds the leads togther. The neck (6.34 ohms) and bridge (5.96 ohms) pickups are stamped AY for Abigail Ybarra - the famed winder at Fender - they have dates of APR 29 1964. The middle pickup has the initials BE with the same date. As I said, none of the pickups have been unsoldered from the pots or switch. The only solders changed were to the output jack and the bridge ground so the guitar could be refinished. The middle pickup unfortunately reads no output. You get a slight bit of sound through an amp on the middle pickup but it is in need of rewinding. This can be done very professionally for around $100. Because the guitar is refinished this is really not as big a deal as it sounds.
The original bridge, uncracked pickguard, backplate, knobs, pickup covers, switch tip, trem arm and bridge cover are all present and in very fine condition.
The killer feeling, fat neck is also extremely clean. The frets, nut, string tree and tuners are all original. The frets show some wear but are not in need of work. I have checked the neck with a blacklight and it shows as having the original finish and Spahetti logo. The neck is in perfect shape and does not have any fret or truss rod issues. The tuners are original, five are single-line Klusons and the other is a double line Kluson. This is commonly found on Gibsons and Fenders - they usually had bins of parts and at transitions in the manufacturing of parts they sometimes mixed the old with the new. There have never been any other tuners on the guitar.
The original no-logo case is included as well, also in excellent condition with no latches or hinges broken.
So you can see, this is a very viable guitar with great tone and potential. The value of this guitar is in the fact that a stock Strat like this in excellent condition is going for $22,000 to $27,000 depending on who is selling it. A good refinished guitar with all original parts is always worth half the equivalent stock model. This Strat will go up in value as you own it, whether you do the work to refurbish it or not at a rate similar to the original examples.
